About Us

JM Bard and Bard Company is a second generation company that was started in 1939 by James F. Bard, who owned and operated an oil supply and service company, installing and renovating gasoline service stations. In 1945, James along with his father and three brothers expanded the company into an excavation and steel fabrication business. Their product line included steel septic tanks and gasoline and diesel storage tanks among other farm and commercial related products. In the late 1960's they were approached about designing and building a machine capable of combining a mixture of dry and liquid materials to produce a new concept of paint known today as latex paint. This successful venture was the beginning of the patented Bard turbine that is still in use today.

Growing demand for a more economical and efficient way to mix liquid and suspension fertilizers brought new opportunities for the Bard brothers. They developed the Vac-U-Mac blender that revolutionized the suspension fertilizer industry. With installations throughout the world, the Vac-U-Mac continues to be a recognized leader in the fertilizer and liquid feed business.

In the late 90's the Bard turbine made its debut into the oil industry, exemplifying its patented design and high shear capabilities by mixing drilling muds and polymers. In 2000, James' son, Jim, took over the reins and continues to sell and service the family of Bard blenders.
